A friend complimented me on my car the other day. The car is a beautiful Mercedes Benz convertible that I bought last year and it is gorgeous. I told the friend that the car was 14 years old even though it looks and drives like new.
Knowing that I was in the car business before I started the RampNOW and StairLiftNOW companies he said "I bet you got it real cheap, didn't you". I responded "actually, I paid more than the book value for the car". I knew that buying an older car, I would save an awful lot of money, but I didn't want the savings to be eaten up by restoring the car. I paid more than book value for this one because it was worth it. I had passed over several used cars that were were lower priced but would need extensive repairs to bring them up to certified standards.
The moral of the story is that used items, like used cars or used stair lifts, can save people a lot of money if the correct one is purchased. A used stairlift that needs a lot of repairs won't save money. If you are shopping for a used stair lift, make sure you are getting one that works well and won't need a lot of service.
